Rotations

This is a 7 year programme (including 2 years of Core Surgical Training), with each stage expected to last 1 year if you are in full-time training. The first 2 years will be spent working as part of the junior rotation. Each placement will be for 6 months. It is a requirement of the Royal College of Surgeons that the MRCS part A & B exam must be passed before you can progress into ST3. Your placements will rotate around the following Units:

  • Freeman Hospital
  • James Cook University Hospital
  • Sunderland Royal Hospital
  • Cumberland Infirmary

You are required to pass the FRCS Urology exam before your training is signed off, and exams attempts should be taken early enough to leave time for further attempts if they become necessary.
