School of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine

Head of School: Dr Stephen Robb

Programme Manager: Steve Hamnett

Programme Support Officer: Ella Costello

This School directs and manages the training programmes for both Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine. There is a Head of School and several Training Programme Directors managing the rotations, quality of training, ARCP requirements and trainee support.

Progression to the next year of training will always be dependent on a successful ARCP (Annual Review of Competence Progression) outcome. It is expected that specialty trainees will gather sufficient evidence and maintain an up-to-date portfolio throughout the duration of their training. Information will be sent via the Programme Support Officer.

The programme complies with the curriculum as set out by the Royal College of Anaesthetists and is continually quality managed to high educational standards, including regular trainee feedback.

There is a strong culture of local educational supervision and the School takes great pride in the pastoral support it offers all trainees.
