By becoming a pharmacist independent prescriber you will be able to prescribe autonomously for any condition within your clinical competence.

What will participants learn?
The module content includes:
- Consultation, decision-making, assessment and review.
- Influences on and psychology of prescribing.
- Prescribing in a team context.
- Applied therapeutics.
- Evidence-based practice and clinical governance.
- Legal, policy, professional and ethical aspects.
- Prescribing in the public health context.
How will it be delivered?
Delivery in the main through:
- interactive face to face lectures
- seminars
- clinical skills
- directed learning (using the virtual learning environment)
- workplace guided mentorship (including competence assessments).
How will participants be assessed?
This module will be assessed via;
- Multiple choice examination
- Oral presentations
- OSCE
- Competency-based portfolio
What experience / qualifications do participants need?
We require applicants to be registered with the UK General Pharmaceutical Council or the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland.
You should have at least two years of patient-orientated experience in a UK hospital, community or primary care setting following your pre-registration year.
