Here you can find all the modules and masterclasses that we commission as part of our continuing workfroce development (CWD) portfolio.

You can filter the results by the following:

  • course type
  • university
  • level and credits
  • subject area

A masterclass is an update course lasting one day. Please read the description carefully around what will be delivered. A masterclass is not at master’s level. Some will be a basic introduction to a subject and some may be building on previous knowledge. A masterclass does not prepare anyone to deliver specialist services. We recommend you speak directly to your chosen university about the details of any masterclass you are interested in.

A module will have academic credits attached to it at either level 6 (bachelor degree level) or level 7 (master’s level). You will be expected to complete an academic assignment. Some modules will last for 9–12 months and some may be completed within three months.

You can also search via keyword using the search box on the right hand side.

Integrating Cognitive Behaviour Theory and Interventions in Mental Health Practice

What is it about?

This module enables you to develop basic skills in specific treatment techniques for depression and anxiety disorders. This includes the development of simple formulation, exposure response prevention, working with cognitive processes and ending therapy in line with evidence based practice.

What will participants learn?

In addition to gaining a theoretical knowledge, you develop fundamental CBT skills and interventions, which can be used to enhance your clinical practice.

Who is it for?

Those working in a health and/or social care context who wish to acquire knowledge of the underpinning theory of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), fundamental CBT principles and common interventions used for the treatment of depression and anxiety.

How will it be delivered?

The teaching methods include lectures, skills rehearsals, tutorials and self-directed learning. You can expect to view recordings of CBT therapy sessions and receive feedback on your application of CBT skills and interventions within the classroom.

How will participants be assessed?

There are two assessment components. You complete a 2000 word case study based on the application of CBT principles and interventions. Secondly you complete a simulated assessment using a CBT framework.

What experience / qualifications do participants need?

Applicants should work in a health and/or social care environment with people who have mild to moderate mental health problems. You will have a sound knowledge of common mental health difficulties and have access to a professional who is eligible to provide clinical supervision relating to the application of CBT interventions.
