The National Clinical Assessment Service (NCAS) is a national service which works with practitioners, including trainee doctors and dentists, and employing NHS organisations to resolve issues and concerns which may arise with the practice of doctors, dentists and pharmacists.
NCAS can be contacted by both employing NHS organisations but also practitioners themselves who feel that they may have an issue with their performance, for example, those returning to work after a period of absence or where the practitioner has a health issue.
NCAS’ guiding principle is to be independent of all parties and their role is to provide support to all parties to “consider all options in order to assist them to reach a safe and assured resolution of the concerns presented, taking account of all relevant factors.”
More information about the support and services which NCAS can offer as well as details on how to contact them are available on the NCAS website.
