As you will be aware the new 2016 Contract was rolled out nationally in October 2016. As a Lead Employer Trust we took the decision to roll out the new contract from February 2017, as a result we moved 52 trainees between psychiatry and those general practice trainees going into a psychiatry post onto the 2016 Terms and Conditions on the 1st February 2017. There were some challenges in the initial work schedules, trainees and the LET alike, but these have all been rectified and we are now moving forward to our larger transition in August 2017.
August 2017 will see the remaining trainees who are currently on fixed term contracts from August 2016 and any new appointees for 2017 transition over, with an estimated 700-900 being involved. We have now received the majority of the generic work schedules from the schools/programmes and have sent these to the host training trusts to populate the rota information. Once we have received the populated rota information we will then work on calculating the pay elements of each work schedule, and any cash floor or transitional pay protections which may be involved, to ensure that each individual receives their correct work schedules no less than 8 weeks prior to their rotation in August and September 2017.
We are hoping to visit Trusts to hold Q&A sessions for anyone who is interested. If you think this would be beneficial please contact our offices to advise; this would be extremely appreciated. In the meantime if you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact our office to discuss.
