The Quality and Patient Safety Conference event brought together a multidisciplinary audience of healthcare professions from both Trusts and HEIs throughout the North East and North Cumbria.
The purpose of the conference was to share innovations across the themes of the HEE Quality Framework, patient safety and to discuss educational workforce challenges facing the NHS in the north east.
Dr Paul Redmond as one of our keynote speakers, talked about the importance of good interprofessional and intergenerational communication. The morning session also included HEE quality updates from both national and local perspectives including Professor Wendy Reid, HEE's Executive Director of Education and Quality and Medical Director.
The afternoon session explored learning from critical incidents, near misses and never events and a number of Trusts within the region presented their own cases, how they were investigated, what was learnt and what has changed. The event was also an opportunity to network and celebrate the great work going on within the region see poster submissions from the abstract entries.
Initial feedback from the event has been positive and a more formal evaluation is currently underway.
The event programme is available here and the abstract booklet and copies of posters and presentations can be found below.
