Wellbeing
The health and wellbeing of our geriatric trainees and the surrounding team is an increasingly important issue in today's NHS. Wellbeing issues are not new and the Boorman review in 2009 stated "health and wellbeing of NHS staff should no longer be a secondary consideration but needs to be at the heart of the NHS mission and operational approach". The increasing demands of the NHS in the work environment are added to other factors such as structure in leadership and management, work design, employment policies and procedure, as well as outside compounding factors such as significant life events, anxiety, stress and depression, and exam failures. This can impact the wellbeing of us all, however we recognise the particular difficulties trainees may face.
As a result, we have created this page as a point of reference with some added supportive documentation. If you are a trainee who feels that you would benefit from support, then please arrange a meeting with an educator e.g. your clinical or educational supervisor or you can contact the Trainee Support Service.
