The School of Obstetrics & Gynaecology will support the delivery of excellent and safe patient care by establishing a framework for the partnership between NHS England Education North East & Cumbria, the Royal College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and LEP Trusts in order to provide high quality education and training in our region. Overall accountability for the quality of specialty training delivered throught the school rests with the Postgraduate Dean and Director of Specialty Training.

Many of those outlined above form the School Board. The Board will manage the strategic development of generic and specialty core training programmes to ensure that trainees develop competencies relevant to their level of responsibility to allow them to practice safely, to achieve the levels of excellence required for a career in obstetrics and gynaecology and to ensure their trainers have the skills and infrastructure to deliver this objective. The Board shall ensure adherence to good governance arrangements and to high standards of obstetrics and gynaecology education and training.
College Tutors
The role of the College Tutor is to coordinate training and education in an individual trust. They are also responsible for ensuring safe and effective patient care through training and for fosterong a positive educational environment for learning. College tutors ensure appropriate systems are in place for the clinical and professional supervision of trainees and are there to identify trainees in difficulty and support them at a local level, in conjunction with HEE NE / School / Training Programme Director / Workplace Behaviour Champion
