As you know there are many benefits of being a trainee representative, you will develop a greater understanding of the functions and roles within HEENE; have the opportunity to demonstrate and develop your leadership skills and represent your fellow trainees. You will meet and work alongside senior clinicians across the region.
The previous trainee representatives enjoyed being part of these committees and said they learnt a huge amount about the processes in taking a strategic approach to quality management and the management of education and training across the region
- You will need the agreement of your Educational Supervisor and attendance at the meeting will be classed as Leadership and Management leave – as agreed with the DMEs.
- Roles are limited to trainees working within the Health Education England North East and North Cumbria Region.
- You must be in receipt of an ARCP 1 or 2.
Expression of interests (max 500 words) should include a brief summary of why you would be interested in the role, what skills you could bring to this area and any experience you have had of representing the views of trainees previously. Include your specialty and year of training.
Appointments are for 2 years.
Medical and Dental Advisory Group (MDAG)
We are looking for one Trainee Representative to join this Committee. You can view the Terms of Reference for this group to give you a bit of background and membership. Being a member of this Committee will give you an understanding on a variety of items such as planned service reconfigurations, workforce issues and considers both service and training issues.

Dean’s Executive Meeting - Quality (DEMQ)
We are looking for two trainee representatives to join this Committee. You can review the Terms of Reference for this group to give you a bit of background. DEMQ ensure a corporate approach to quality management and play a central role in sharing quality information and intelligence across HEE NE&NC including review and triangulation of quality items and sharing of good practice.DEMQ supports HEE NE&NC in complying with the HEE Quality Strategy and Framework, standards set by the regulators and other bodies with an aim to excel in these standards in order to provide excellence in education and training. DEMQ is accountable to the Postgraduate Dean for process and organisational governance.
Being a member of this Committee will give you an understanding of how quality of education and training is managed within the region including how we work with stakeholders eg GMC, Postgraduate Schools and Trusts.
There is no expectation that you will attend every meeting but will share attendance with another trainee.
