An Introduction to EPRR in the North East

On the 12th February 205, a workshop entitled "An introduction to EPRR in the North East" was arranged by and held for our specialty registrars, with the support of the EPRR team at the regional UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) team. The aim of the session was to explore the roles and responsibilities of partners in a systems approach to emergency preparedness, resilience and response, and to better understand the contribution of the public health consultant in different settings.  The full day face-to-face event was held at Newcastle Upon Tyne NHS Foundation Trust and included presentations from system partners including UKHSA, the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, Newcastle City Council, and the North East Ambulance Service. Reflections from consultants who have been involved in different types of incidents were also included in the day. It is the first event of this kind that the regional registrar network is aware of, and received very positive feedback from attendees, who particularly praised the range of speakers and hearing from the lived experience of consultant colleagues. It is hoped that a similar session can be held every second or third year to ensure all registrars have exposure to a workshop like this during their training.
