Northumbria GP Programme AKT PASS is an initiative for GP Doctors in Training to access extra support to promote future AKT exam success.
The aim of the programme is;
- Proactive support programme to improve pass rates for the AKT
- To improve support for trainees who have sat but not yet passed the AKT
- To improve peer support
- To create dedicated learning time
- To deliver bespoke study skills education
- Opportunities for feedback and TPD support
- Creation of a bespoke action plan
Learner eligibility
- Learners with a previous unsuccessful attempt at the AKT will be invited to enroll on the AKT PASS course via the website
- Learners who have not yet sat the AKT can be invited by request of their CS/ ES or TPD where there is a clear and evident educational need.
- Learners MUST attend a full day PASS day to be able to access the peer support half day elements.
- Learners can attend the PASS day as a stand alone but anyone who has been unsuccessful more than once is strongly encouraged to attend the full course.
Please be aware that exam failure is rarely just about knowledge. Most exam failures relate to complex issues. This course is NOT focused on knowledge acquisition. It looks at study, exam and life skills as well as building a reflective understanding of the challenges. Evolving these skills takes time to adopt and embed. This is not a crammer course.
Learners should aim to allow a minimum of 2 months between attending AKT PASS and sitting the AKT.
