DCT 2 Equivalence
The demonstration of Dental core training year 2 competencies is now an essential requirement for all specialty training programmes. The only acceptable format to demonstrate equivalence since August 2021 is to submit a COPDEND approved National Certificate of Dental Core Equivalence (NCDCE). In future applications to acquire an NCDCE will be accepted within a standalone window on an annual basis. However a modification has been introduced to accommodate this year’s applicants to specialty training programmes while awareness of the NCDCE process builds. This will be clearly signposted within National recruitment application process. The modification above has been arranged for this year only
The modification facilitates applicants to apply for an NCDCE between January 18th 2022 and February 8th 2022 in parallel to their specialty recruitment application. All the relevant information on the NCDCE process can be accessed through the following link –
https://www.nes.scot.nhs.uk/our-work/dental-dct-equivalence-ncdce/
The NCDCE if awarded will be accepted by National recruitment offices as satisfactory evidence of having acquired competencies equivalent to DCT year 2 . Please note there will be no other acceptable method of demonstrating equivalence to DCT year 2 competencies. In the event your specialty recruitment takes place in the Autumn of 2021 applicants to your specialty will still be able to avail of the NCDCE application window January 18th 2022 and February 8th 2022.
