The Directorate of Multi-disciplinary Dental Education is seeking applications for Educational Supervisors for the Dental Foundation Training programme commencing 1st September 2026. This is open to new and former Educational Supervisors.
In line with the ICB’s Oral Health Strategy, we are pleased to announce a pilot ICB-funded initiative to try and address oral health inequalities across the North-East and North Cumbria, helping to meet the targeted need for more NHS dentists. The pilot aims to support recruitment and retention of dental workforce, while also enhancing the Dental Foundation Training learning environment.
The initiative will provide additional resilience funding of £18,750 per new practice or practice returning to training after a 3 year or more period of absence. All successfully appointed new practices for September 2026, including those new practices who have already submitted an application, will receive this enhanced funding.
The funding must be used by the practice to support or enhance the training experience of the foundation dentist with the aim that the training practice will reapply after a successful and rewarding training year.
