Restorative Dentistry

 

Clinical

Both DCT 3 posts are based within the restorative dentistry department at the Newcastle Dental Hospital. The department is made up of:

  • Prosthodontics
  • Periodontics
  • Conservation

Each week, Trainees will have 4 or 5 training sessions, 3 Consultant led diagnostic clinics and 1 clinical governance/administration session.

Facilities

Trainees can expect to undertake treatments in fully equipped areas on multi-chair clinics or in dedicated surgery with appropriate nursing support. Dental Hygienists and Therapists form part of the team to provide patient treatment. There are 15 Consultants/Honorary Consultants in Restorative Dentistry who lead diagnostic clinics and refer appropriate patients to junior staff treatment waiting lists. Newcastle Dental Hospital has its own Dental Production Laboratories; one for removable dentures and one for fixed restorations.

Objectives

Trainees will be given the opportunity to consolidate diagnostic and treatment skills within the broad remit of restorative dentistry.
