PA students and courses
There are currently two universities offering the physician associate studies course in the north east and north Cumbria. Newcastle University and the University of Central Lancashire. These courses equip students with the skills and knowledge to be able to undertake the PA national exam (PANE).
The PANE is developed and delivered by the Assessment Unit on behalf of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), of which the FPA is part. The PANE is open to any candidate who has completed the requirements of the Competence and Curriculum Framework for the Physician Assistant within a UK university postgraduate programme in Physician Associate Studies (either as a postgraduate diploma or a master’s course) and had completion signed off by their relevant university exam board.
