International Council for Nurses

Suitable for all trainee and qualified advanced practice nurses

The centre for advancing practice are coordinating the largest global forum for advanced practice nurses to network and collaborate on contemporary topics and future trends relevant to their practice. The conference theme ‘Advanced practice nursing an invaluable investment for global health’ is inspired by the International Council of Nurses strategic priorities and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and Universal Health Coverage.

Free CPD masterclasses for qualified ACPs

The North East and Yorkshire Faculty for Advancing Practice in collaboration with University of Huddersfield and Northumbria University are delighted to hold series of face to face CPD masterclasses for Qualified Advanced Practitioners.

Each event will focus on a particular topic:

 

Northumbria University

  • 8th April 2024 – Introduction to point of care Ultrasound (POCUS)
  • May 2024 – VR based sessions

Paediatric ACP Network Event 2023

Suitable for: all paediatric ACPs

When: Wednesday 13th March 2024 at 09:00 – 17:00,

Where: Technology Centre, Glaisher Drive Wolverhampton, WV10 9RU

The network are delivering an educational conference to share knowledge and expertise with regional and national colleagues. This is a paediatric advanced clinical practice network study day supported by PiP and delivered in partnership with The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. The day will include an RCPCH AP curriculum update, a session on cardiac Arrhythmias and workshops on supervision and assessment, simulation, and managing conflict with families.

CPD opportunities and upcoming events for PAs

Free 2 day CBT: the bits course

Suitable for: all qualified PAs

NHS England are supporting Physician Associates to take part in a 2-day 10-minute CBT: the BITS course, run by the Association for Psychological Therapies (APT). 

 When: 6th and 7th February 2024

Where: Royal Station Hotel, Newcastle upon Tyne

Time: Full day (exact timings will be provided following sign up)

Eligibility: This course is exclusively for qualified physician associates in north east and north Cumbria.

Cost: Free!

Attendance on both days would be mandatory, and applications are welcome from PAs working in both primary and secondary care who have an interest in learning about CBT. You must have your employer’s permission prior to applying for this programme.

PA mental health development day

When: 28th February 2024 at 09:00 – 17:00

Where: County Hotel, Newcastle city centre

The north east and north Cumbria faculty for advanced practice are hosting a physician associate (PA) mental health development day on 28th February 2024, following the success of the previous event on 18th October 2023. This event is open to all qualified PAs in the north east and north Cumbria region and will host different topics from the two previous events we have hosted.
