Preceptorship Opportunity

In order to increase recruitment and retention into ARRS (Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme) roles in Primary Care, we are piloting a Preceptorship for 3 ARRS Roles: Mental Health Practitioners, First Contact Physiotherapists and Pharmacy Technicians. We are seeking expressions of interest from people who would like to become a Preceptor with the programme. The Preceptor will support those new into an ARRS role in General Practice, especially those new to Primary Care, to get a great start in their role.

The main aim of the Preceptorship is to welcome and integrate those appointed to ARRS roles into their new primary care environment. It helps these professionals translate their knowledge and experience into the generalpractice setting, grow in confidence and understand how to apply their experience in their day-to-day work. There are currently 3 different Preceptorship opporunities: Invitation to Tender Preceptorships, Becoming a Preceptor and Joining a Preceptorship. The below information outlines each opportunity and how you can get involved.

Becoming a Preceptor

North East North Cumbria’s Primary Care Training Hub is piloting a Preceptorship for 3 ARRS Roles, Mental Health Practitioners, First Contact Physiotherapists and Pharmacy Technicians. We are seeking expressions of interest from people who are in one of these roles and would like to become a Preceptee within the programme.

Preceptees will have access to a Preceptor for one hour per month for 12 months. A blended approach will be adopted when meeting with the Preceptors. Meetings can be online and a combination of multi-professional group meetings and one to one as required. Preceptees will attend 4 generic development days and 4 profession specific development days, designed with their profession in mind. There will also be access to a mentor and peer support sessions will form the support and networking elements.
