The IP3D Programme: Better Diabetes Perioperative Pathways in Primary Care

This webinar, hosted by Professor Gerry Rayman (GIRFT joint clinical lead for diabetes) will discuss the benefits of adopting GIRFT’s Improving the Perioperative Pathways of People with Diabetes (IP3D) programme, and how you can enable your patients with diabetes to be better prepared for surgery.

The objective of the webinar is to introduce the IP3D project to GPs and their practice staff, who have an important role in supporting patients on perioperative pathways.

The IP3D project provides an implementation solution to improve the perioperative pathway of people with diabetes undergoing surgery and has been successfully trialled and shown to significantly reduce surgical length of stay, with fewer complications and a better overall experience for patients with diabetes and staff. National Autism Webinar - Meeting the Needs of Autistic Adults in Mental Health Services

Autistic adults are more likely than non-autistic adults to report symptoms of mental ill health and to be diagnosed with a co-occurring mental health condition. Partly due to recent improvements in appropriate reporting and recording the numbers of people diagnosed as autistic in mental health inpatient settings is increasing.  Therefore ICBs, mental health services and system partners need to plan to effectively meet the mental health needs of the autistic adult population and support them to live well in the community wherever possible and, when clinically necessary, provide effective and therapeutic community, crisis and inpatient care.

Introduced by Tom Cahill, National Director for Learning Disabilities and Autism, the webinar will equip ICB leads with an understanding of 10 key principles to improve the quality, accessibility and acceptability of care and support for autistic adults to meet their mental health needs, both in the community and in inpatient settings. An overview of the complementary national guidance to support integrated care boards to commission acute mental health inpatient services for adults with a learning disability and autistic adults will also be provided.
